The month of October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This month is dedicated to developing resources and information for companies to use when discussing online safety with their customers and employees. Here at Careberry, security is our highest priority that’s why we'd like to highlight a few important actions you can complete to improve your online security.
Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA, also known as two-factor authentication (2FA), is a security measure for an account that requires anyone logging in to authenticate their identity in multiple ways. Typically, you would input your login and password and then you would need to prove your identity in some other method, such as verification codes, to ensure it is really you. This is an excellent security measure because even if your account was to be compromised and your password was leaked, hackers would still require MFA to access your account information, preventing them from seeing your personal and private data.
Customers that use our platform can easily enable MFA on our platform by navigating to their account security page and selecting which method they want to use. There are several options available, including Authenticator applications such as Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator and receiving a text message/email with an authentication code!
Using Strong and Secure Passwords
Passwords might be tough for all of us online to create and remember, especially with the growing number of passwords any one individual can have. But, they are your first layer of protection against hackers and data breaches. We can define what a secure password looks like in 3 words, Long, Unique, and Complex. These 3 words are the key to creating your password. Here are some tips on how you can create and maintain a strong and secure password:
To ensure that our account holders are safe and secure, our customers at Careberry must meet all these conditions when setting their password so they can rest assured their account is safely secured.
With the use of today's technology, threats are continuing to develop, and hackers are becoming more knowledgeable. You should always ensure any software you use is completely to date, avoiding making yourself and your device vulnerable. We also recommend you always keep up to date with the newest security breaches and dangers, as well as how to avoid them. Don’t be afraid to share your knowledge with people you know as well as the public so that together, we can keep our communities safe online!
