When I first considered applying for the Goldman Sachs 10KSBUK program, I recognised Goldman Sachs and Oxford's Saïd Business School as prestigious institutions. However, I was concerned that the program might focus more on academic theory than practical application. Despite these reservations, I approached the experience with an open mind and realistic expectations. I reasoned that it would still be worthwhile even if the program did not meet my high hopes.
I did not anticipate the significant shift in perspective that the program would provide. As a healthcare professional passionate about technology, I found that the program complemented my technical background and equipped me with a broader toolkit to address daily and long-term business challenges.
The thoughtfully structured program covered essential topics such as finance, leadership, marketing, and business growth. However, the standout feature wasn’t just the content but the environment. The program fostered a collaborative and supportive atmosphere where entrepreneurs inspired and helped one another, creating an energising and enriching learning experience.
Among the modules, the finance sessions were particularly impactful. They provided fresh insights into strategically managing business finances and maximising the accounting team's potential and data. Similarly, the marketing module challenged my preconceived notions. I had always believed that a strong product could sell itself, especially since 40% of our customers came from referrals and our churn rate was 0%. However, the program encouraged me to think beyond these metrics. It taught me how to harness customer loyalty, use marketing strategically to fuel growth, and capture a larger market share.
Another invaluable aspect of the program was access to world-class business experts. These mentors didn’t merely share advice—they actively challenged my assumptions, encouraged me to approach problems from new angles, and guided me toward more effective decision-making.
What truly set this experience apart was the cohort and program leaders. They fostered a unique atmosphere of mutual support and empowerment. My relationships with fellow entrepreneurs were as transformative as the formal lessons.
Reflecting on my journey, I am truly grateful for the anticipated impact that the 10KSBUK program will have on shaping the future of Careberry, the all-in-one care management platform I founded. Careberry was created with a clear goal: to make care management easier, safer, and more efficient. Our customers are our strongest advocates, and their loyalty speaks volumes about our success. Thanks to the 10KSBUK program, I feel better equipped to enhance this success, communicate it more effectively, and reach even more customers.
